Les Jardins du Luxembourg

I finally got to visit the Luxembourg gardens this weekend. Actually I spent time there on both Saturday and Sunday. The weather was wonderful and the gardens were full of people, but they are so big that there was still plenty of open space. I put some more pictures here.

We did have a little rain today around noon, but it really didn't last long. I was out shopping and got caught in it, but I had a rain hat and rain coat, so I was fine and I only had two blocks to walk anyway. I was almost home before the rain started.

I'm looking forward to Jim getting home Wednesday.

Oh, Ceci! What beautiful photos of the Luxembourg Gardens! Lush and colorful and just a wonderful feast for the eyes. How fortunate that you brought your knitting and could sit there amidst it all and peacefully knit. Thanks for sharing your latest adventure!

Thanks Rose, Did you get my e-mail? I was planning on a long train ride that day, so brought my knitting for both the park and the train. The weather was so nice Sunday. It rained a little yesterday, but not much. I don't know if I can expect this nice weather to last any longer.

We plan to stay in France, but may get out of Paris a bit. We're thinking Normandy and possibly Correze right now. We have company here for about 2 1/2 weeks, so we aren't planning any trips for a bit. We have kind of been to all courners of France in previous visits. My sister used to live in les Haute Alpes de Provence, and we've been to Normandy, Brittany, the Ardeche, Auvergne, Dordogne, etc.

A visit to Louis Pasteur Museum

We decided to try to visit the Louis Pasteur museum, which we thought was on the campus of the Louis Pasteur Institute , a bio-medical research institution in Paris. We passed this church, which was called St. John the Baptist de la Salle. I hadn't heard of this saint before, but I liked the statue of him with the children. Then we passed a building on our right with lots of people walking around it carrying notebooks. They looked like students. We still weren't sure where the museum was, but through a gate on our left we saw this statue, which Jim recognised from some papers he'd read. We went into the reception area at the guard house and asked for the museum and were told it was here. The girl asked us for ID's and made us name badges right on the spot. Delhi monuments, sights, streets

We’ve been in Delhi for a week now. We’ve learned some things and still have much to learn.  We know how to use the metro, rented a car one day to take us to several interesting monuments, tombs and temples, have walked around downtown a bit, have fought off many people trying to sell us something or get us into a shop where they will get a cut if we buy something.  We are unfortunately learning that not all the helpful tips we are offered are true.  We found a metro station that we like. It’s one station past the big interchange station at Connaught Place. It’s quiet and clean and there are no crowds. We can remember it because it sounds like ‘Barak Obama.’ The name of this station is Barakhambra road. We used it twice before and recognized the entrance.  So when a fellow tried to direct us to a shop, I said, “No, we are just going to the metro.” and I pointed towards the station. One week and counting down....

In one week I'll be leaving for Paris. So why am I spending time at this computer now? Well, I've been planning this trip for about 9 months already, so I have some stuff done. I need to organize my last days so I don't forget anything important so I made a list this morning. Here it is: THINGS TO DO BEFORE NEXT MONDAY _Get the house ready to leave; Clean and put away most of our stuff; clear out the drawers and closet in one guest room for Sarah, our house-sitter. Make a list of things I think Sarah will need to know. Have Sarah over for a house orientation tour. _Start packing a suitcase with fall clothes. I made a list a while back, but may have to revise it, when I see how much will fit in the suitcase. One good thing we will be there for only one season—the fall. So that makes packing a bit easier. Mostly sweaters, jeans, pants, a couple skirts, a dress, raincoat and jacket, scarves. The French wear scarves all the time, so I need more than one. _Start piling up books,...
